Get the Facts. Stop the Rumors. Get your Questions Answered!

Many people have questions about the flooding that has been occuring in our lakes and streams in the past few months and years. This is your chance to find out more about what has been causing the flooding and how to deal with the problems it has caused you personally.  Although the panel presentation will focus on the Upper Tippecanoe Watershed, any citizen who experienced flooding problems throughout the Kosciusko-Noble-Whitley County area will benefit from hearing this information.  Representatives from the following organizations have been invited to share their knowledge on the flooding and to answer your questions:

  • IDNR Division of Water - flood insurance, dams, court established normal levels vs. historic variability
  • IDNR Fish & Wildlife - aquatic plants
  • IDNR Lake & River Enhancement - dredging
  • IDNR Law Enforcement - lake closing
  • USGS - stream gauge network & streamflow data
  • NOAA/Weather Service - precipitation data
  • IN Dept. of Homeland Security- mitigation
  • Kosciusko Lakes & Streams - info & education
  • Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation - rain gardens, natural shorelines, constructed wetlands
  • Kosciusko, Noble & Whitley Counties: Surveyor - ditch maintenance
  • Planning & Zoning - construction ordinances
  • Health Department - wells and septic systems
  • Emergency Management - response plans
  • Soil & Water Conservation Disctrict- technical assistance for homeowners

Panel Presentations will give a brief overview of the flooding situation.  Identical presentations will occur 5:30-6:00pm and 6:30-7:00pm

Open House format from 6 - 8pm will allow you to talk one-on-one with representatives above to answer your questions.

Light refreshments will be provided in the Open House area.  Please RSVP by Monday, November 16 so that we can plan for the correct number of attendees.
